This rant has nothing to do with you, really. I'll tie it back to you by saying that I'll finally know what Spike's voice synthesis is like.
I have found a guy who performs a wonderful service. His name is Mark and he runs www.vectrexcarts.com. He will make any Vectrex cart for you and sell it to you at cost. This ranges from $6.50 to $12. An incredible deal -- Scramble went for around thirty bucks on eBay recently, but my cost is almost a fifth of that. You don't get the overlays, but then they seem sort of weak anyway.
Other notes:
o The C compiler is apparently not 100% useable. So if you wanted to make your own games you'll need to know Assembly for the 6809.
o You can make your own light pen!
o Someone has developed Defender for it, which I totally asked to have made for me. Rather than be poor at the arcade version, the 2600 version, the MAME where I can set the controls myself and Playstation version, I can now eliminate those pesky colors which personally I always blamed for having sneezing fits that last longer than a typical round of Defender.
Let's take some quick questions from the audience on this one.
Q: Aren't you a huge fag for getting all worked up about a 23 year old system with only about 5 good games for it?
A: YES
There you have it. Best of luck with picking yours up from the Salvation Army! I hope they give you no trouble. While not really an army, some of the swarthier employees are equipped with claws that rend, eyes that see and teeth that bite.
