The only difference between Javascript's version of this problem and say, .NET's or Ruby's is the rate at which new shit is coming out.

Asking an experienced WPF dev about the tradeoffs between coding against "things that work on Windows 7 desktops" vs "things that will work on Surface Pros" will elicit just as bewildering an array of words and acronyms.
