Nah, I just like taking any opportunity to point out how horrible Libertarians are, in this case sarcastically imagining a moderate Libertarian, since they don't really exist. That's just a Republican.


Many Republicans hold many views which are directly opposed to libertarianism. For example, pretty much everything Trump has ever advocated (immigration restrictions, trade restrictions, preserving social security, etc.)

If I insisted that everyone on the left was just a "moderate communist" and then proceeded to talk with people about random aspects of Marxism-Leninism, the people I was talking to would (correctly) realize I wasn't being serious and not engage with me. It is the same thing when you label everyone as a libertarian. Nobody on this site is a libertarian. Not even TDARCOS.

Oh no, you got me! Except you didn't get me, since I already carefully explained to you that I'm not a libertarian. My understanding of libertarianism is based on a friend I had in high school, and one or two things I read online. Mostly from people critical to libertarianism.

The wiki page on libertarianism states that there are a range of views. In fact, there's an old joke that two libertarians never agree with one another. "left libertarians" have even weirder beliefs. So while I am surprised that the American Libertarian (capital L) party would have such silly beliefs on taxation, it really is par for the course.
