Diabotical Closed Beta Testing and Backer Refunds This Week [Feb 23, 2020, 12:10 pm ET] – Post a Comment
The Diabotical Website now features a closed beta schedule showing testing of The GD Studio's crowdfunded multiplayer arena first-person shooter will begin next weekend (thanks Brandon). They are accepting signups for those interested in participating, saying those who are selected will receive a confirmation on Thursday, a day before the first test. Those who backed the game on Kickstarter will be automatically invited, though not those who requested refunds, presumably due to the game's lengthy development cycle. Word is: "The refunds for Kickstarter backers who have requested them, will be sent out before the closed beta keys are sent out on the 27th of February." They also have an outline of the content they will be testing, and a Weekend 1 Trailer to show it off. There's a FAQ with more details and system requirements. Here's part of the FAQ covering the game:
1. What kind of game is Diabotical?
Diabotical is a colorful, fast paced, first person shooter featuring eggbots, egg shaped robots who battle each other in the arenas that they have created, with a variety of weapons for different situations.
2. Where and how can I play Diabotical?
Diabotical will be free-to-play and available on the Epic Games Store for Windows, if you are not a Kickstarter backer you can sign-up to be invited to the closed beta. Those selected will receive an email on the 27th of February with a key.
At least they are giving refunds, which all these desperate leaches should.

I don't like this pattern of crowdfund-to-sellout
