That's the term for a restaurant that doesn't have a physical space and only does delivery. In my town anyway it's usually a different restaurant that diversified their menu during Covid to drive up takeout business and potentially split off into a second location when the pandemic end(s)(ed).
All the way through Covid I only ever got takeout/curbside from restaurants. I feel like the gig economy is predatory and I don't really want to participate in it. I'd rather just support the restaurants directly. We still try to tip well because everywhere I looked during Covid, restaurant workers were like "the people coming into restaurants are complete assholes and they also give bad tips." Restaurant takeout was one of the few bright spots of the pandemic for me and I want those people to know there are people out here who appreciate them.
We did get some meal delivery services for awhile. I got one that was all vegetarian bowls and I even lost a little weight eating those, but staring down the barrel of eating curried cauliflower 5 days a week for the rest of my life was just...too bleak. |
