If it was FPS I wouldn't even bother playing it. It's third person, you see your own ship, but you can move the camera anywhere, so I guess maybe you could lock in in 1st person position. That would be dumb, though, a lot of the game is visual cues, you can see your ship get damaged and such.

I mean first person as a person, not as a ship.

Flying your ship around and shit: third person.

Then you beam over to enemy ships and start tagging their cargo for transport: first person.
