I've got the immune system of a bubble boy, inside the bubble, and I hope that can be of some use wherever I go. Maybe it won't, but I'll be getting sick along with everyone else. I'm not blindly idealistic about this, but it's all in the attitude, man. Only 2/3rds of volunteers complete their service (my ex said one girl left the first week) and I've read somewhere that 22 volunteers out of about 15,000-20,000 have died over the past five years, but I like those odds. Plus, if I go to Africa I can buy a cool booney hat and probably walk amongst the majestic giraffe.
