It was fucking great.
But?

There are 10 minutes out of 148 that consist of laughably awful dialogue,
Oh, please. Even if it was only 10, it felt like 40-60, and it was actually 40-60 that felt like the entire 10th grade (a year for most of us, probably three or four for you).

and the music is pretty much all TERRIBLE (really, really bad, especially compared to the first one), and Larry Fishburne has been developing into a much fatter and yet much worse actor than before,
Agreed, agreed.
but despite all that we're talking about approx. 90 minutes of nonstop kickassity. Best videogame chopsocky flick EVAR!
The Ms. Pac Man Intermissions were better video game movies than this one was. And once again your math is off, Math Boy. If you're going to be wrong, try not to be quantifiably wrong - if there were ninety minutes of action in this movie, I'm thinking your brain decided to protect itself halfway through and went to sleep. The only question now is did you sit through two showings or three. A quick computation says it had to be at least three.

I've been hearing tons of negative word-of-mouth reviews, and all I can say is, people either have got problems with their standards for movies in general, or they think that the original Matrix was something that it wasn't.
OR it was a bad movie. But definitely one of those three!
Fullofkittens wrote:
I thought the original kinda wasn't that good, but I loved the sequel. Ahhh... so much frantic action feeling.
Still? This long after you've seen it? I can understand the lizard brain getting a tiny hard-on during the fight scenes, but I can't imagine you remembered what you were so excited about by the time you got back to mom's minivan.
If I didn't know better, I'd say your problem with the movie has something to do with your propensity towards being contrary for the sake of it. I have to say - the most amazing thing about the fact that you liked X2 better than M:R was that you admitted to liking something.
I'm not going to argue movies with you until you post 5 movies that you like. Here's 5 that I like (taken as the first 5 I saw on my video shelf), to be on an even keel. (This seems like a blatant ploy to amp things up, but it does have a purpose: I'm trying to work around your always-on-defense "no one will know I'm a gaytard if all I do is diss everything" strategy.):
The Royal Tennenbaums
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Pee-Wee's Big Adventure
High Society
Almost Famous

I can understand someone stupid thinking I'm merely a contrarian or (more likely) that I have a hard time admitting liking anything, but I love movies. I went to film school, for fuck's sake, because I love movies. I just don't like bad ones, and the Matrix 2, for all the very brief times it was thrilling, is a bad movie. And trust me, in a year when you rent or buy the DVD, you're going to say to yourself halfway through, "holy shit... did I actually like this piece of crap?"
List five movies I like? I'm not sure, FoK, but you may be veering into some really weird area of conversation here. But if you need it, I'm happy to provide it:
1. La Jetee
2. Die Hard
3. Modern Romance
4. Dr. Strangelove
5. Once Upon a Time In the West
Halfway through that list I realized how fucking infantile this is. List five movies I like so I can prove to you I don't hate all movies - Jesus Christ, FoK, I was very specific about what I disliked about Matrix: Reloaded. In fact, I was very specific about it in more than one post. On the other hand, all you can say about it is it was "ass-kickin'", and I'm who needs to provide some proof of the veracity of his opinions. Grow up, Full of Shit(tens). Ha, see what I did there? I made fun of your screenname. Clevar!! |
