I've been hearing tons of negative word-of-mouth reviews, and all I can say is, people either have got problems with their standards for movies in general, or they think that the original Matrix was something that it wasn't. I thought the original kinda wasn't that good, but I loved the sequel. Ahhh... so much frantic action feeling.

P.S. All the noise about what it really means is crap - the Architect is obviously just another goddamn liar anyway, and in any case, who gives a shit about their Pink Floyd pipe dream bullshit? Less talk, more CHOP-SOCK!


I was able to follow the Architect without much trouble on my first time through (I knew all the vocabulary from those debates with philosophy students would come in handy SOMEHOW), so I was able to walk out of the movie and say 'OK, as far as philosophical BS goes, on the whole this is a much much better movie than the original Matrix.'

There was more and better action than in the first - and it just felt more, as you say, frantic. Erik's 'frantic action feeling' phrase for Serious Sam comes to mind here.

That said, the movie suffers because they ought to have never gone to Zion at all. Zion start to finish ought to have never made it out of the cutting room floor - that's 'deleted scenes' bullshit for the Collector's DVD, you don't put that kind of crap in a blockbuster and someone ought to be fired for not organizing a staff protest against those scenes (editors and writers in unison telling the brothers they're full of shit on that score).

So, slightly better than the original and when the DVD comes out and you can skip chapters it'll be FAR better (still wouldn't buy it).

BTW, FoK, you should have saved the criticism you leveled at INC for me - I can only name three movies I like enough that I'd buy the DVD for them:
1. Fight Club (really just the first two-thirds of the movie - best thing I've seen in cinema)
2. Apocalypse Now (Redux)
3. A Clockwork Orange

With Terminator 2 as the a very near miss for a fourth.
