The first plane was caught on tape crashing into the WTC (by first, I'm talking about the first to hit the towers), but that footage wasn't available until late in the day. The only plane that anyone could have seen on TV hitting the WTC was the second plane. Bush supposedly made that comment at a time when he couldn't have possibly seen the first plane hit. I'm inclined toward Mao's and El Koba's viewpoints on this, that Bush is a PR whore and a complete imbecile.

Still, if I were a Democrat running for President, I might include his idiot "I thought he was a really bad pilot or it was a tragic accident" (or however he put it) in a campaign commercial, then have a voiceover say something like "That's a hillarious joke you made, Mr. President, during a national tragedy." Then a shot of him reading to kindergartners for 20 minutes after the planes hit with the inquiry "Is this what Bush calls 'leadership'?"

I'm far more interested to know why those planes weren't shot down, however.
