Having already seen everything that looked good, my brother and I ended up watching this. Luc Besson wrote the script. It suffices to say that the dialogue makes Morgan Freeman, in the role of magic negro, not believable.
I translated your thing into Caltrops-speak.
Kerry Condon plays a girl and is hot in that boyish, Irish pixie way.
It was pretty awesome to realize that she was a 30-year old woman playing an 18 year old, Gabrielle Carteris-like. Seeing those crow's feet, SO CUTE. Not unexpectedly, the implied romance between Jet Li and Condon in the trailer (she demonstrates how to lick an ice cream cone; cut to kiss on the neck... implication? The Chinaman is gettin' LAID) was completely non-existent in the actual film. Will Jet Li ever get the girl, hmmmm?
Should you go to see this, you may safely leave after the trailer for "Domino".
For the first 10 seconds I thought it was Winona Ryder in the lead role. I think that would have been kind of cool, actually.
Stay past that, and you run the risk of seeing the trailer for "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo," which may the single most awful movie trailer I've ever seen. When it finished, people in the theatre laughed nervously like they were embarrassed for the projectionist.
So I take it you didn't see the "Fantastic Four" trailer at your showing? |
