It was pretty awesome to realize that she was a 30-year old woman playing an 18 year old, Gabrielle Carteris-like. Seeing those crow's feet, SO CUTE. Not unexpectedly, the implied romance between Jet Li and Condon in the trailer (she demonstrates how to lick an ice cream cone; cut to kiss on the neck... implication? The Chinaman is gettin' LAID) was completely non-existent in the actual film. Will Jet Li ever get the girl, hmmmm? There's a rule in Hollywood movies that asian guys never ever get laid. Every single character around them will go knocking boots and they just have to look self satisfied. In every buddy+chink movie the buddy gets the chick. Even the Replacement Killers, which is based around a guy/girl duo, doesn't really allow Fat to really get any. In all fairness, they might be eunuchs. Hollywood does the opposite for Asian chicks who are tag teamed with in 30 seconds of being introduced, as it should be. |
