And finally I mentioned that I'm looking for a long term position with growth prospects.
That turned them off? Isn't looking for "growth prospects" the sort of thing everyone wants to hear? I don't know. The only time I've ever been the interviewer was when I was in month two (out of an eventual three) with a company called StorageTek 7 years ago. It was nice that they asked, but my opinion and the opinion of my co-workers was completely ignored. Not that I blame them, what on earth did I know?

One thing that worried me in the interview was the question : "How do you deal with conflict?". I hate lying in interviews but I know that "passive aggressively" was the wrong answer. I've taken his question to mean if I get the job I'll have to deal with petty cunts all day who are lacking the social skills to resolve issues in a grown up fashion.
Generally believe it to be a good thing. From the interviewer's reaction I got the idea that he wanted someone to sit down, shut up and churn out code until they died.
Maybe I'm just being a little over sensitive.
I've been to five interviews and gotten four job offers (I spent two months selling timeshare holidays so I've learned a few social tricks from some very scaly but effective salesmen. I also think interviewers appreciate it when I turn up dressed in a suit and tie. Most coders don't. ). I just didn't get the feeling I usually get when I've had a successful interview.
Well, I'll know sometime next week.
