If you've already played Painkiller demo 1 and written it off as "circle strafe zombies with the stake gun," I suggest you try demos 2 and 3. Long after you get tired of the Serious Sam old skool style gameplay (so old skool you can't duck!!!!) you will continue to hurl flaming corpses into the air and stake people to walls in hillariously awkward positions.

I also like how the engine has a built in bullet-time effect for shitty computers like mine.

Calling Far Cry game of the year 2004 in the same universe that Painkiller exists is crazy.

I just finished the game. Great game. I was one of those demo1 people. By some twisted miracle, the two levels in demo1 just happen to be the two worst levels in the game. Super publicity job.

The only complaints I can come up with are

1. They insist on throwing in some gay twist to each boss fight rather than make it a straight up, balls out fight. Either it's a puzzle, or annoying cannon fodder enemies distract you in the middle, or you lose 75% of your health falling through collapsing ceilings.

2. If you want the "good" ending, you have to collect all the secret tarot cards, which is a giant unfun pain in the ass.

3. Crashing bugs. Would constantly crash on one level after 10 seconds of demon mode, then around 25% of the time when I'd try to use the lightning gun, which made me stop using it forever.
