So, I'm building a developer OS install in order to image and deploy it to everyone. Now, this is on NT, so the installation process is shaky as hell. Installing JBuilder always results in an OS-killing startup BSOD. 3 days and as many rebuilds later, I finally find out what the problem is - Intellimouse drivers. The version that shipped with SP4 would cause bootup death if the %CLASSPATH% exceeded a certain length (probably 256 chars). What C++ mouse drivers have to do with the Java classpath, I'll never know.
I literally ran around the office screaming after finding that out

#4: Active Directory fails to install because DNS wont work because the fucking 3Com NIC drivers flip into power saving suspend mode whenever they feel like it. Took half a week to find that out due to bad error messages |
