A Zotac (WATUF?) 8800GT 512mb (£159.99) aaand some generic no-name brand of PSU 500w some crap I have no idea what any of means (£27.01), but it has cables coming out of and looks pretty similar to what I have now.

Other than not ever hearing of Zotac ever, the weak link (other than me) is the PSU, so any pointers for that would be great.

I'd been fucking around with generic power supplies until the last couple of years. They just cause problems. Don't do what I had to do, which is go down to CompUSA to get a 600 watt Antec, get one instead from the Internet at highly discounted prices. But definitely get one with a strong reputation. Moving to the year 2007 let us forget about expending money on such things as floppy drives, PC-specific gamepads (after getting one of many converters that allows you to use your console's) and PCI network cards, but in return you have to spend much more on a PSU.

I'd guess that this Zotac manufacturing your video card will be fine. There used to be many companies just using the reference designs for 3D cards (that only added one or two things) that went out of business, but their cards were always perfectly fine.
