He transfered very little of the crap he talked on QT3 to RPS, and I pretty much said all I needed to on QT3, over and over.
The Club is great for instant FPS fun. The racing segments are reminiscent of scouting in TF2, and the survival segments are reminiscent of NaaC or Crimsonland. It's a game that's easy to like if you like FPSs and like retardedly fast paced things. Kieron's problem was that he liked the club, but it was just too plebeian for him to not have some complaints with, so he manufactured a few and tested them on QT3 before writing his shitty little review.
You can see this exact thing with Army of Two, people are constantly bitching about the single player (which the game shouldn't even feature, it should have shipped at eighty dollars for two copies of the game) or the setting and how rogue contractors in Iraq are serious business, just because the game doesn't have some social commentary George Clooney bullshit.
The Club was a game that got shit for not being pretentious enough with the gladiator setting. |
