While they've made you a champion of those of us on Caltrops who love self-deprecating stories told by inveterate losers (myself included!), they probably wouldn't even make for a decent book, much less anything that might actually be used to gain financially, socially, or even emotionally. You've poured all your efforts into LIVING and ended up crying over a pair of cut-off jeans you're sewing. So, yes, to me your experiences are of some value, as I've really enjoyed the stories and if you want to set up a Paypal account I've got $20 ready to go, but beyond that there are some pictures of dogs, a missing MP3 player, and probably a couple doses of whatever horrible dickrot is all the rage in Southeast Asia now.
As always, I'm torn by making these patently obvious posts, not least because I always worry you might stop posting your little stories here and then what are we left with? So by all means, go to Bahrain or Dubai or wherever and let's all hope that if you end up being publicly stoned to death, at least SOMEONE has the decency to tape it. That might up my offer to $30.
So stop worrying about me so much. I'll try to muddle along as best I can under the terrible weight of dreams realized and wealth accumulated, all the while wondering why I've never experienced the joys of skulking around Seoul backstreets and wishing I was home.
As for Fussbett's rosy prediction above, I have my doubts. I'm guessing the family coffers are drained a bit now, and let's not forget your equally successful brother and (from what I can tell from the family snapshots) your idiotic sister will have their hands out as well. |
