One of the things I liked about the GP2x was the idea of the janitor who stole mine when I left it in the bathroom at a former job trying to make heads or tails out of it when he went home and stared intently at his captured, foreign treasure. I liked to imagine that it might as well have been the monolith to him. The other thing I liked was the implementation of Nethack the GP had. It's never going to be as quick as it would be on a PC, but that's fine. There were some nice shortcuts and it was playable.
So that's my frame of reference for the iPhone version. It's not good - it crashes on me constantly, for starters, and I never really liked how the navigation was to get things accomplished. This could be much, much better. I know the developer is still tweaking it, and I wish him success. Apple, who is getting $99 a year from this poor guy, finally figured out how to make money of Nethack, I guess.
