One possibility someone suggested was where there's a mandatory term in a contract such as arbitration, such as in your contract with your credit card company, since the terms allow them to change the terms, you should be able to do the same.

So it was suggested that you send them a notice that effective in 30 days you are striking any provisions you feel unreasonable, and if they choose not to cancel your account, they are presumed to accept the terms.

Most people don't read those long rules on their contracts and if they tried something that a lot of customers refused, they'd back down. But most people don't notice and don't realize how bad it is.
