I liked the story in Human Revolution by blackwater 01/06/2014, 1:39am PST
I'm going to lower myself into the shark tank that is Caltrops and go on record as liking Human Revolution. I've always liked science fiction, even really bad science fiction, just as long as it presented some interesting ideas, and HR did that. The whole augmentation thing was a great theme for a game, I thought. Obivously most gamers start off thinking that the pro-augmentation factions are in the right, but the game throws some conflicting ideas at you. What about the social inequality that augmentations would produce? The loss of control that happens when parts of you were made by a corporation? Dehumanization? etc. etc. So your choices later in the game are centered around how you feel about augmentations rather than whether you want to be Snidely Whiplash or Dudly Do-Right like in Fable or other games like that.

I was afraid the plot would be a copy of the original, but they took it in a different direction. Maybe my standards are too low, but I thought the writing was better than average. Most characters were not traditional heroes or villains, but somewhat believable shades of grey. For example, Tracer Tong's father.

My least favorite part of the game was the hacking minigame, which was hard to avoid and kind of tedious. I also thought that the inventory was way too small, even after upgrading it. But overall, I thought HR was probably the best sequel the original could have gotten.
