"I'd buy that for a dollar!" *gut-busting laughter in response*by Mischief Maker 04/29/2014, 3:49pm PDT
Some movies are dumb and make no bones about their stupidity. Crank 2, for instance. I love these movies for their loud stupid action. I also love them for their lack of anything resembling this:
(Please don't actually watch this, just note that this scene is 3 and a half wasted minutes of your life ending with, "I don't have a point.")
Were Matrix 2&3 claiming to be nothing more than dumb action movies, I wouldn't have the complaints that I have. Matrix 2&3 pretend to be smart and have long talky scenes that try and fool me into thinking it's smart. Why the fuck are you wasting my 2 precious hours with your movie?!! At the very least if the movie presents itself as deep and worthy of analysis, which it does, certainly it's not unthinkable to analyze the movie's depth.
Here's what I want to know: I still from time to time run into Phantom Menace apologists and Matrix sequel apologists. What I never ever run into are Indiana Jones 4 apologists. Why not?
