I reinstalled that NS mod and gave it a whirl. I could tell from the screenshots that were there that it was SKO resource management/RTS features in the GUI, but it didn'k seem like it was a central element to the game, not to mention that I didn't bother to read up on it.(I like to jump right in)Turns out it's more like a rip-off of StarCraft, only in 3-D, set in heavily Aliens inspired locations. One note : you can crawl on the walls with one of the aliens...but it's not nearly as cool as AvP in this feature.
So, in short:
StarCraft+AvP in the TFC format.
One thing-
That eror does seem awful strange in the sense that I had run HL without incident after installing and running Steam...it was only after installing that NS mod the first time around that I got the error. I guess Valve, knowing what a hardcore fan of Aliens. I was, intervened in my experiencing a pale attempt at an homage to the genre by piping-in via Steam-a corrupt HL.exe. Thanks Valve. A bit overprotective, but you obviously knew something I didn't...now that's developer support. |
