Fff whatever. I already know that nobody agrees with me. But here's a list I threw together just now of the same qualities in both Captains

hyper competent
better at fisticuffs than most of the crew -- Picard improbably being an action hero is because he and Kirk are the same guy
diplomats and ambassadors, not just soldiers (McCoy's term) Picard gets scientist added to his list later on, along with artist.
love ancient earth stuff, like Shakespeare
Sexy AF, get all the girls they want, even non-human ones
embody the ideals of the Federation and Star Fleet
LISTEN to the advice and concerns of their officers and admit mistakes
Obviously both are extremely woke
Love and are extremely proud of their ship
Are shown mentoring crew and rando kid-of-the-week who needs a father figure

Like I said, liking Picard better is just liking the better production and writing (not that TOS had bad writing!) of TNG. And ok, the acting of Patrick Stewart lol
