Nope. The point was to record all this stuff, so Ocelot could turn it into the best VR training regimen evar. They only needed to build/blow up this stuff once. Remember, the point wasn't the actual event, but the experiences and information that derive from it. That's what Hideo was trying to show... that it's just information. Once Ocelot had the data (the disk of which Ocelot was waving around when Liquid took him over), he'd just need to clone up some more Snakes, train 'em using the data, and bingo! Super soldiers.

Which is still the stupidest, most out of control, impractical X-files type conspiracy theory ever seen. Zombie Nation for the NES made more sense than this game.

Also, they already HAD data from such a situation, the first MGS. Which they used to train Raiden via VR sims. You'd think there'd be SLIGHTLY less expensive, elaborate, and failure prone ways of setting up realistic military training programs.

Also, why trade off being able to control every computer in the world just for a few box-hiding commandos?

P.P.S. Vamp was the stupidest god damn thing ever.

The fight was interesting, though, if only for the "water you can't float in" bit.

Which he could swim around like a dolphin in for some reason. Yet another retarded Neo/Jesus power he had along with magically resurrecting, running on water and up walls, and deflecting bullets with a knife (any ballistics expert want to explain what effect an assault rifle round would have on your average military issue knife?). How did he get these powers? By being buried alive for 3 days in an earthquake and feeding off of his dead family's blood (doesnt that dehydrate you?) then having bisexual relationships with Dead Cell's CO and his daughter. Well of course! I thought the shaman and Mantis were a bit retarded in the first game, but after MGS2 they belong to a Rainbow 6 level of realism by comparison.

What really pissed me off was the Emma death.

The Patriots AI forgot that an integral part of Snake training is the inclusion of a love interest mid-mission (her death = optional). Instead they stuck him with a steady ball & chain and an emotionally wrecked, incestiously inclined 16 year old who was more of a Jap-o-phile than Mei Ling. OPERATION FAILURE! Time to scrap up another $50000 billion for the next try!
