Too many reviewers can't seperate themselves from the review. For instance, I don't like The Sims 2. But if I were reviewing it, I would still give it a 4 to 4.5 star review. Why? Because even though I don't like it, I can recognize a well put together game when I see one.

But too many reviews I see are essentially "This game SUX, 1 out of 10!" simply because the reviewer didn't like the game. The reviewer's "tilt" should be based not just on whether they liked it but whether they recognized it as a good product.

I don't know if that's the case in this IGN review or not. But I will say that too many of the webzines out there rely on volunteer reviewers who essentially find it more interesting to crap on a game because they can sound witty and superior in writing the review.
