They've got Sith and troopers autospawning out of the halls, walls, and my Jedi balls. Rooms with one exit that I just left suddenly have people boiling out of them, lobbing plasma grenades and force choking the shit out me. This is the first time in the game the enemies have been anything but finite. The idea is apparently to charge your way through them, but they'll attack you from the back as well, and this combat system doesn't allow you to attack while moving, so you have to trudge all the way back to deal with them, by which time another band of Sith has come at you from the front again. It might be possible to run away, but once enemies show up I don't know any way to keep my other two party members from automatically attacking them.
I actually like most of the game, specifically the parts that aren't the beginning and the end. I've decided to give it another play through before I write the review to make sure this isn't just a result of my total ineptitude at building d20 characters,b ut I was powering through the game real quick-like until I hit this part, and now I'm just a midichlorian-filled smear of blood on the ground.
I've tried about every party configuration I can think of, but even with the best one I've found I'm still resorting to creeping and saving. At one point I even exploited a bug/feature that lets you recharge mana force points while you're fiddling with a computer terminal, but it's still taking me half an hour just to complete five minutes worth of game time. And other people have completed this game three times already? The angle for this review might have to be that it's done from the perspective of the worst CRPG player in the world. |
