To be more precise, since the responces to 9/11. The thing is, I can't narrow down who Walton Simons should be. That fuckwad charged with the most holy quest of spying on the internet? Ashcroft? Bush?
No, obviously not Bush.
I guess that depends on wether you believe the world is run by a huge secret conspiracy of joooooooooos, who are equipped with nanotechnology augmentations which can protect against ballistic and energy attacks. Then you would need to figure out exactly who JC Denton is supposed to be (carrie?) and who the other UNATCO crew are. Especially the computer nerd guy and the doctor.
But anyway from what I remember from replaying the game a few days ago, the parallels really fall apart when you think about it more (the belief that anyone in our government is "spying on the internet" is a great example and hindsight makes it look even more flimsy), especially when you get to Hong Kong and mess around with the triads. Since the game was released in 1999 or whatever I guess the conspiratorial theology needs some slight updating.
Anyone trying to come up with their own modern day global conspiracy theory for a video game plot write this down: bankers are evil. |
