I finally got around to playing HL2 when the Orange Box came out and I wondered what all the fuss was about. The gravity gun felt like some buggy user mod. It was basically just a gun that used furniture for ammo only none of that ammo could fit through the (many, many) small apartment doors and picking something up blocked your entire view. No flinging guards into explosive barrels, no smacking them against the wall until their skulls cave in and leave bloodstreaks, no lifting a guy up and watching him spray panic fire everywhere, no immobilizing a guy in place so he's fried when the supercollider wave hits him.
Maybe it was a great game for 2004? But then I remember Farcry, Max Payne 2, Psi Ops, Bloodlines, and Painkiller which all came out before and did everything better.
