Even if you like Super Mario Bros 2 - and you SHOULDN'T - Kirby's Adventure is still a more fun iteration on the same mechanics. Instead of picking up enemies and tossing them, you inhale them, and either spit them out like bullets or swallow them to gain their unique abilities. Instead of making weird floaty hover jumps, you puff yourself up with air and flap around to your heart's content. On top of that, Dreamland is just a much more graphically lush and appealing slumberzone than Subcon ever was. Sure, the game is too easy, but what else is new? At least it's easy because it has hub worlds and a save system, not because you already played it to death as a kid. If Kirby's Adventure and Super Mario Bros 2 came out on the same day instead of five years apart, there would've never been a Super Mario Bros 3. |
