They're not running out of burgers, they're just understaffed. So rather than hire more people, they're going to charge more to drive customers away. Then when sales tank the CEO is going to get paid 100 million dollars to get fired. But I like the optimism that people value a Baconator as much as not being stranded away from home.
I look forward to when the drive-thru is clogged with people who aren't aware of the surge pricing getting pissed off and ditching their orders when they find out they have to pay 50% more than usual.
I don't give a shit about Wendy's; I hope they completely go out of business and we're only left with 4,000 other burger chains in North America. They deserve to no longer be in business. After becoming the main character on the Internet, they made sure to tell everyone they could this morning that they aren't implementing the dogshit idea they very much were going to implement.
Wendy's has no plans to raise prices of its menu items during peak demand, the company said on Wednesday, days after CEO Kirk Tanner said the burger chain would start testing "dynamic pricing" at its restaurants starting as early as 2025.
Right, so either the CEO is so goddamn stupid that he thought surge pricing was going to work and make the line go up, or he's so goddamn stupid and incompetent that he has no idea what "dynamic pricing" means. Dumb shit.
And of course, even when a submarine is crushing itself around them, no CEO can admit that they were wrong, no ho ho ho ho it's everyone else that was wrong, "Kirk Tanner" is definitely not incompetent:
"We said these menuboards would give us more flexibility to change the display of featured items. This was misconstrued in some media reports as an intent to raise prices when demand is highest at our restaurants. We have no plans to do that," the company said.
W-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-we said th-th-th-ese MENUBOARDS would -- Oh thank god everyone else, including US Senators, were the ones who made a mistake here and not their new idiot CEO, who was hired specifically because he said he wanted to raise prices during times of high demand.
Again. Nobody gives a fuck what Wendy's will or won't do, they can drop cement walls around their drive through lines like you might do in "The Sims" to trap people into paying four hundred dollars for a cheeseburger. Nobody cares. They mentioned their moronic idea on a call with "investors", they whipped people into a frenzy so now they are hated, then they tried saying that ACTUALLY it was everyone else that was acting mentally retarded. They damaged their corporation's reputation for absolutely no reason. Last year was a great year for CEOs, glad nothing has changed.
