I bet this game kicks all kinds of ass. by SBDMT 04/29/2003, 1:42am PDT I mean, I guess. For the combined 15 minutes of actual playtime I've tallied in between bluescreens, I've managed to remap most of the keys I've had an occasion to use, learned how to avoid objects that promt you to interact with that God-fucking-awful interface, KILL AN ENEMY!!! and catch a glimpse of a dune buggy ramping over a hill. It might even be better than Tribes 2, although the comparison is impossible to avoid. Except Tribes 2 fucking works. Seriously, WHAT THE CUNTING FUCK???!!! I have a good system. Not top of the line l337 Alienware gear, but it manages 60 FPS in Doom 3, with a lot less crashing and %1000 less bluescreens. It ain't the processor(P4 2.4), or the ram(1 gig DDR) and certainly not the video card (Radeon 9700 PRO). The SB Audigy rounds out the usual suspects, and they're all securely fastened to an Asus SiS648 mobo. Until now I've always snarled at games like this. I hear MMO*** and I stop listening, and muse over how good Scorched Earth used to be. So I was really hoping this might be the game to shatter my preconceived notions that MMO games = TEH SUCK, to the degree that I invested $7 in it. Maybe someone at Sony Online could ease my mind by mentioning that when the retail version comes out, it'll only be $6 more than that per month, which works to ensure that it'll run on my system. I can only hope that greedy SOE fuck is wearing his complimentary Fileplanet t-shirt I bought him when he goes to try and deposit my first bad check. Still, a small part of me can't help but think that the guy in the dune buggy was having fun.
