In a tag battle, you get to determine which CO is taking the lead and plan your strategy to take full advantage of both CO's powers. For example, the inexperienced but wealthy CO named Colin has weaker units but can purchase them for lower-than-usual prices. You can put him in the lead whenever you need to buy reinforcements, and then switch to a tougher CO, like Max, in order to dish out the damage.
That sounds....broken. Also negating the entire point of balanced strengths and weaknesses of the CO's. This sounds like something they shoehorned in just to fit with the whole dual screen theme, or an unnecessary mechanic just to say they have something new like two drivers in the latest Mario Cart.
it adds a slew of new twists, including tag-team matches, dual-screen battles, the real-time combat mode

new units like the stealth fighter and the megatank
Here's the stealth fighter
Those circles on a unit type portrait means it's strong against those units. So the stealth fighter apparently kicks everything's ass and has no weaknesses.
the megatank, a slow but horrifyingly powerful vehicle that can cut through medium tanks easily, and significantly outguns even the neotank from Advance Wars 2.
Well, at least they finally figured out that you don't make your super heavy tanks faster than everything else, a lesson they forgot with the neotank.
By default, the computer will control what happens up top, and actually does a very competent job of it. If you'd rather not relinquish control to the computer, you can personally take command of the action on the top screen
Uh uh. The AI has always been so retarded that it had to have a 3 to 1 or more production advantage to offer a challenge. Now I get the option to hand things over to it when I'm the one with a production shortfall.
Sadly, Andy is back and looks like he needs a punch in the face more than ever. Maybe this time he'll let the bad guys go again so he can have another ice cream party.
