At least 90% of all arcade games (and arcade-type games like LR) made are/were horrible, so we're not saying they were this special nugget of goodness in an otherwise harsh entertainment world. MAME supports, what, 6000 games, and maybe a hundred of them still hold up. Anyway, I didn't mean to get all annoying and worked up, but they did call it (wait for it) "Defender" HO HO HO
