I have an iPod adapter plugged into my car stereo and it's the greatest thing ever invented. The plugged one in to the base of the Saddam statue in Baghdad and it fell right over.
The Steering wheel controls still work, turning the stereo off or switching to a different sound source (FM, built-in CD OH GOD NO!!!) stops the iPod from playing, and turning it back on starts it right back up again. The downside is you're locked into an iPod for LIFE, but who cares? The used ones are cheap and since you're only using it to pipe music into your car you can just buy a big audio only one and hide it in the glove box or center console and only pull it out when you want to load up more songz.
Fussbett's right, though - newer car stereos handle MP3 files just fine so why not burn 700 MB onto a CD, listen to those for a while, then have the joy of THROWING THE CD AWAY when you're bored with it and starting over with a whole new one. |
