| A thief, or rather someone that professionally steals shit, does not want to be anywhere near you. He/she will case your home long enough to figure out when you will not be in it, then take all your shit. This is because his motive is to take your possessions for his/her own gain. Nothing more, nothing personal.
A freak on the other hand gets off on you being in the residence when he breaks in. Sometimes it’s a psychosexual. This person needs bullets. An addict or someone desperate enough not to care that you or yours are home when they break in will do anything when approached, bullets or buckshot or big slugs/sabots for them. ASP batons rock for riots, subways and for crippling competing figure skate opponents. Shotguns are great for home defense because you have the presentation, the huge cavernous barrel to discourage shenanigans and because you can mitigate overpenetration (no need to perforate the bassinette). Besides, if you wind up having to shoot, hey cool… you have a shotgun. Shotguns are less advantageous for the subway. Everything Mao said about edged weapons is correct. People hate being cut. Actually people usually hate cutting, usually preferring a blunt instrument to an edged one. You only need about 3.5 inches of sharp metal to end a threat. Less if you are willing to do shit you are not willing to do. Trust me. |
