I got Super Meat Boy in the recent Humble Indie bundle and it did not light my fire as it seems to have for so many other people. I love the shit out of Sonic Rush on the DS, but that game moves so fast it's almost more of a pattern memorizer than a platformer. I guess I'm just not really into platformers.
Physics simulations aren't a turnoff for me though, because I LURV HAMMERFIGHT:
VIDEO
This is a very rough game with lots of niggles here and there and lots of bullshitty moments, but I can't stop playing it. Give me a physics engine that's all about HITTING THINGS HARD! Also, this is probably the only videogame I've played that renders swords as sharp objects instead of baseball bats that go through people. Sliding cuts can be deadlier than strong swings. Curved blades actually have an advantage over straight ones in this game and it gives you a huge selection of scimitars and chinese machetes to play with. One of the endgame superweapon unlocks is the lightest sword in the game! Every single weapon is a challenge to master. AND IT'S SO VISCERALLY SATISFYING!
Warning! If you get it, set the mouse speed to minimum, don't trust the autodetect. Otherwise you'll never be able to build a decent torque.
