Anyone think these gaming sites roll dice to see what indie game they'll bomb? by Worm 01/24/2013, 12:37pm PST
Like they take a pool of games which aren't their advertisers or too big to fail and pick a name out of a hat for which game they'll nitpick and give a low score just to maintain the illusion of journalistic integrity. I mean just read the thing, his whole issue is that he's a retard and he's playing it wrong. His issues are there are too many escort missions, the robot suit mode isn't Godmode enough, and he's bad. That's really all there is to it.



The mission he needed 20 retries to do I just managed ... barely my first try that wasn't at 5AM. Yes it's a hard mission but you should be able to fucking figure it out. It's not so much as an escort mission as it is a do this and that mission. You have to kill fighters, then kill corvettes, and finally kill the beam cannons on the ships. I still don't understand what else you could fucking do in a space fighter game but destroy targets? Collect space herbs? Fly through rings?

In fact, if Strike Suit Zero had just forgotten about the robot suit altogether it would have been a much better game, because its best moments are undoubtedly to be found in the dogfighting.

Yeah there you go Rich, if you removed the sole mechanic that differentiates the game from being a generic plodding dog fight game -- a mechanic you're strangely no good at -- the game would be great. All throughout his review he never even for a second reflects that he might just be bad, or he might be playing wrong. Because of course if you can't pick up a game and immediately be good at simply because you're a 'gamer' it must be shit.

You acquire the Strike Suit at the end of the third mission, and the first task is an escort mission. Remember Natalya? Perhaps the most infamous 'partner' of all time, she specialised in ruining GoldenEye levels for you by getting killed. Now imagine escorting a frigate approximately a million times bigger, immobile, and wearing a giant target reading "SHOOT ME". This is the Arcadia, the most loathsome lump in the known universe. Hell, this thing is worse than Natalya; I failed this first suit mission about 20 times in a row and had to take several breaks to calm myself down. If I have a heart attack in the next few days, put "The Arcadia was Destroyed" on my tombstone.

Maybe shoving a game in someone's face and saying "Have something in my inbox by tomorrow" isn't the best way to review things.

This game is not AMAZING but holy shit listening to this stupid fucking shithead (whose big claim to fame is having a drunk meltdown on twitter) just pisses me off. It's just an easy target for some asshole to get a pay check, it's fucking pathetic and these guys should always be treated with hostility.
