Yeah, I'm sure that's exactly what Bush is planning on doing with the increased tax revenue that will somehow be the result of our successfully invading Iraq. God, that sounds ludicrous just typing it, I hardly need to comment. Typically, I will anway.

The fact of the matter is, most corporations in America are run by deceitful, barely competent (usually not even that), and short-sighted idiots who evade paying taxes by using huge international loopholes, whose idea of reinvesting in the economy means contributing to the election campaigns (or lobbying incessantly) the politicians whose job it is to represent the American people. I'm not sure why people keep talking about trickle-down economics when it's become abundantly clear that the American version of "free market" capitalism means grab the good bottom line while you can, slash your workforce, hide your profits overseas, fight regulation tooth and nail, then claim unfair foreign competition or unfriendly foreign governments when things don't go your way and demand an invasion. None of those things seem to be helping the people who actually work for you, and none give the government much incentive to expand any "feel-good" programs.

And shame on you for calling child welfare in this country a "feel-good program," Ray. Seriously.
