Here's what happened:
Shortly after OMM goes back up from its temporary moritorium last summer, visitors of OMM bust Chet's balls and two fags wreck havoc with the site. The new password system prompts emails to Chet along the lines of "Give me my password to your site which I'll never visit anyway, faggot" (This is from an email to me from Chet after I humbly thanked him for putting the site back up, in which he curiously didn't tell me he hated us all and so forth like he did in public ater). Jonny Foreigner hacks it, and then the infamous jrkerr demands an edit feature, and dicks around with the site (resurrecting every single thread, etc.). Chet gets really fucking mad. We count hyphens and move on.
Then, Chet decides to implement some new features, like the Friends thing. The POErs eat it up, OMMkies are ambivalent. Zseni (as Vag) complains a little, not much, but complaining about a feature that is entirely optional is a little unnecessary. She then reiterated her complaint about passwords since it reduced the happy anarchy we all enjoyed at OMM, releasing her password to everyone. Fag Packet stepped to that gauntlet and posting a pretty convincing ator of Vag (I love the poetry "spazzy bum-burps" - it was very Vag). Someone blamed ES, so that rumor took off. Chet responded and never knew it was a fake. Then, they argued in Fisher Price about Vag's bf's site getting hosted, as seen in the above post. Then Chet must have told his girlfriend about it and she told him why worry about some anonymous faggots on a dead site that generates zero cash? So he yanked it, but decided to use to the overarching rationale that he hated us all anyway and we were all ingrates. He even followed us to Planethate to remind us of how lame we all were and how he had absolutely no regrets about doing it, after reading one post - one! - from Roop, a dude who didn't even post all that much anymore. He said we didn't get any of his funny, the funny in question being that psychotic tirade against Fag Packet as Vag, and putting up a jrkerr post as the last remaining viewable post at OMM (with an accidental twist of the knife - the post was a copy of his admin view, it had a "Delete Post" tab no one but Chet had ever seen).
But Chet was already mellowing, thanks to ES' awe-inspiring flame straight out of the ex-OMMer angsty gestalt, and the stunningly non-screechy and diplomatic Senor Barborito. Yes, you read that right. They talked about server and site-relate stuff, and the mumbling about Caltrops that had started right after OMM had gone back up last summer (when we were reminded of our own internet mortality, so to speak) went into high gear. And then, Purple.
