At the end, brave lone agent Jodie Foster stumbles across the killer's home (not Hannibal). She goes into his house just expecting to ask questions of a regular guy, but realizes too late that THIS IS THE GUY and that she is now in his house without backup or anything. The guy runs off to the basement, and she follows with gun drawn. When she gets downstairs he covertly puts on some night-vision goggles and switches off the lights.
Then, you see his POV as she tries to make her way out, blind and groping with gun drawn. The guy moves right up next to her, carefully moving so as not to make noise, and just watches her helplessly make her way around the room. It's creepy as hell because he has total control of the situation, and Foster looks absolutely terrified and lost in the dark basement. He even reaches out to touch a little bit of her hair at one point. Suspenseful!! |
