I think the third best vector game ever made is Gravitar. The cave flyer is a fine tradition, and I think there is one cave flyer that surpasses it.
It is very difficult for me to enjoy what are essentially rail shooters, so while Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back are fine color vector arcade games that have great controls and sound, ya cain't go backwards. Endless runners, where you can't go backwards - that is another genre that I don't love.
Major Havoc is in my top 100 personal favorite games, and I'd find room for Battlezone if this were a top 200 list.
Protector (homebrew) is the best game, overall, on the Vectrex - meaning, you don't care about who inspired what, you just want to sit down and play the best cartridge the thing has. |
